White House Controller Danny Werfel said last week that the $535 billion spent on federal contracting in fiscal 2011 was the first time in nearly 20 years that the procurement budget was flat from the previous year, The Washington Post reported. He pointed out that an additional $50 million in contracting savings has been identified for this year.
